When Legal and Financial Issues Affect Families
Many of the legal issues that affect families are financial issues as well. At Foreman & Caraciolo, we are well equipped to handle these issues — such as spousal support and child support — when they affect our clients. Representing people in the Harrisburg area and throughout Pennsylvania, we offer responsive, aggressive and personalized service with one goal in mind: achieving positive results.
Spousal Support Sometimes Called Alimony
In a divorce, the resources that were previously used to support one household must now be divided to support two. Divorcing spouses can feel financially strapped. Because of this, spousal support (often called alimony) is awarded in some Pennsylvania divorces under certain circumstances. As responsive and aggressive lawyers, we represent our clients' best interests in spousal support matters.
In addition to spousal support or alimony awarded after a divorce, you may also need to consider issues of alimony pendente lite or APL. If you or your spouse files for divorce, the court will want to ensure that both parties have sufficient financial support while the divorce case is pending. If one spouse is financially dependant on the other, the court may award alimony pendente lite, or temporary alimony, until the divorce and spousal support issues are finally settled.
Child Support and Enforcement
In Pennsylvania, child support is determined by a series of guidelines. However, an experienced attorney can do more than just plug in the numbers. The law permits judges some discretion in special circumstances. At Foreman & Caraciolo, we do an in-depth analysis of the situation. Often, we discover that child support amounts under the guidelines should be raised or lowered in a way that is more favorable for our clients.
Our experienced attorneys also assist in issues of modification, enforcement and collection of child support. While many state agencies can aid in child support collection, we have the resources to go beyond — often finding solutions for people when they thought no solutions were possible.
